Pam Pittinger lives in Amissville, Virginia where she has a spacious studio in the upstairs of her 100 year old barn. Before happily settling here she lived in several places- New York, California, The Philippines, Scotland and Thailand, all of which have influenced her work in their way.
She has exhibited in most of these places but especially here in Virginia as a past member of The Middle Street Gallery and the Six Pack group and her studio has been on the Rappahannock Studio Tour for many years.
Before focusing on painting, which she has done for 35 years, she had a varied background working in holography, soft sculpture and jewelry.
“I am an intuitive, abstract artist painting with acrylics and multi media. When I start a painting I do not have a preconceived plan. I want each painting to be a surprise both to me and the viewer. Meaning develops slowly during the painting process. I invite the viewer to enter into my work and find a narrative of their own, rather than me saying what I see. My hope is that the painting’s layered complexity will keep people looking and making connections of their own experience and reaction to the work. “
