Jeffrey Bussells paints the Virginia countryside using
just a few colors on small wood panels. His aim is to quickly and directly put down something that is meaningful to him. Valuing expression over description, his marks tend to be linear and painterly. Rhythm and balance play key roles. Primary influences include Titian, Rembrandt and Albert Pinkham Ryder. He studied art at Radford University and the Washington Studio School.
