Kirsh lives and works in concert with nature. Trained in ceramics, sculpture, design and photography, she turned first to landscape design, fulfilling a desire to work within the parameters of her environs.
For three decades, Kirsh has worked with discerning clients to establish outdoor living spaces that provide a respite from the sometimes hectic pace of life. Drawing from her fine arts background, she combines an innate design sense with her comprehensive knowledge of trees, shrubs and plants, as well as local growing conditions, to create signature landscapes.
Kirsh's return to sculpture in 2004 brings her creative career full circle, yielding exuberant forms made in a variety of materials, including bronze, resin, stone, and fiberglass. The sculpture can be fabricated in virtually any size or color and is suitable for indoor or outdoor display.
Her extensive background and current practice as a noted landscape and garden designer has proven to be the perfect springboard when visualizing her sculpture – posing and placing each piece in her mind as she views the space.
Jan Kirsh works hard to bring an artist's sensibility into all of her projects. She is driven by attention to detail and is keen to explore all of the best design alternatives, whether the end result of her labors is a splendid fruit or vegetable sculpture or a one of a kind garden room.
Kirsh's landscape projects are found throughout Mid-Shore Maryland. Her sculpture is represented by galleries in Aspen, Colorado, SoHo, New York, and the Chesapeake Bay region of Maryland.
A resident of Maryland's Eastern Shore, Kirsh's studio is minutes from St. Michaels, Maryland.
